Frequently Asked Questions

How many estimates do I really need?
Only one estimate, if you are comfortable that your remodeling contractor will get the job done to your satisfaction and within your budget. These days just getting an estimate is a task in itself. Trust is very important in choosing a construction company! One of the biggest myths today in remodeling is that you need three estimates. Find a contractor you can build a relationship with.
Do I really need to permit my project?
Absolutely! Permitting makes sure that your project is being built to National Building codes. City inspections could be viewed as an insurance policy. Inspections of the work performed insure that the project is being built for your safety. In addition, upon selling your home, you must, by law, disclose any unpermitted construction issues to all potential buyers. Having permits will ensure an easy sale.
Why should I remodel my home?
As property values multiply, millions of homeowners are remodeling to protect their investment while improving their space, upgrading laminate countertops to granite and turning their bathrooms into spas.
What could increase the value of my home?
Nationwide statistical studies have been released which add further weight to existing evidence about the correlation between certain house components and the price of the home.
How long does it take to remodel a kitchen (on an average)?
Usually it takes 2 to 3 months depending on kitchen size and details involved in the project. The first step is to take measurements. We then supply the customer with a 3 dimensional sketch so they will be able to better envision their future kitchen. We also provide a sample of the cabinet door, with the wood color and style that the customer had chosen. After approval we move on with the process. Building custom cabinets can take 4 to 8 weeks (depending on the size and the amount of detail in the kitchen), we then install the custom cabinets, floors, countertops, plumbing, and electrical which can take another 4 to 6 weeks.
What is the first step to building a room addition?
The blue print. We have an architect that will provide a blue print for you. Should you prefer to work with your own architect that is also a possibility. We will cooperate with your architect from the beginning of the concept to the end of the remodel.
Do we need to leave our home during the remodeling job?
Sometimes this is necessary, but not all the time! Actually, most of our customers stay at home during the project. We try our best not to disturb the home’s normal activities.
Do you have insurance and a bond?
Absolutely! Please check our “About Us” page for further information. It is important for a homeowner to employ a licensed contractor who has a general contractor’s license (B license) that will protect you, as a homeowner.
